Social media barbs irked Colorado players who said they took a screenshot to use it for motivation during the game.

The Buffaloes won 34-24 on Saturday in a game that was closer than the final score would indicate. Rams coach Mike Bobo admitted he let his team get caught up in the hype.

Buffs seal the win

Colorado running back Jarek Broussard said the Rams' tweet didn't provide any extra motivation to Colorado's players. However, he admitted they saw the tweet and some players took a screenshot of it.

Regardless, Colorado beat Colorado State for the first in-state meeting between the two schools since 2019 and the first in Fort Collins since 2018.

CU posts record

The Buffaloes improved to 2-1 on the season while the Rams fell to 0-3. The win against Colorado State gives the Buffaloes a 12-2 record in the series between the schools.

Colorado State will try to get its first win of the season next week when it hosts San Jose State. Colorado will host Air Force next week.
